Install your XpressTint Thermal Label Printer

When it comes to installing your XpressTint thermal label printer, there aren’t any tricks or special IT tricks. For most users, it’s very much Plug ‘n’ Play and no need to use the CD ROM! Following these easy steps can get you printing in no time.

The printer comes bundled with the necessary drivers for Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7, if you require a printer driver for Windows 8.1 or above, then you can download it here. Follow the on screen instructions to install the printer driver. If you are using other interfaces to connect with printer, please install the printer driver. The printer driver is in the CD disk Driver directory.

Once you connect the USB cord to your computer, the printer will automatically upload the correct printer drivers and let you set up the printer.

To configure the printer for the correct media, simply go to your Printer Settings, usually found in the Control Panel of your Windows machine, and click Properties.

Look for the Advanced tab, and down the bottom you will see Printing Defaults. This will let you set the size and orientation of your labels.

After you click the Printing Defaults, select the Page Setup tab, and look for the New… button. This will let you set up a new Paper Stock size.

For the Large Label format, copy the details on the screenshot shown below, you don’t have to worry about copying the ID number.

The size of the Large Label is 99.0mm by 66.0mm. The label gap on the sides are both 1.3mm.

The size of the Small Label is 70.0mm x 20.0mm. The label gap on the sides are both 1.3mm.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Some Windows versions do not always place the correct drivers with the correct printer port, so you may see errors on the printer when trying to print. If you experience issues setting it up check to make sure the correct print driver is installed, and that your printer port is marked as “Virtual USB port for printing”.

To choose the correct driver you can:

  1. Locate the Printer in the Devices and Printers section of your computer, usually found in the Start Menu, or in the Control Panel.
  2. Right-click the XpressTint printer you just installed and select Printer Properties.
  3. In the Advanced tab, choose New Driver…
  4. On the left hand side, scroll down until you see the TSC printer series drivers and locate your printer model, then click OK. If you don’t see it there you can choose the “Have Disk” button and navigate to the drivers section on the included CD-ROM, or by downloading the drivers mentioned in this post. (If you are unsure of your printer model, it will be written on the badge on top of the printer).
