Using the History Page in XpressTint https://evic.com.au/using-the-history-page-in-xpresstint/ https://evic.com.au/using-the-history-page-in-xpresstint/#respond Wed, 08 Jul 2015 11:00:00 +0000 https://evic.com.au/using-the-history-page-in-xpresstint/ A bug in the "Save to" command prevented all default job details saving correctly to the History page, this has now been fixed.

XpressTint is able to remember every job that you make, simply by pressing the Job Complete button at bottom of the Formula Recipe. Along with this, you are able to save vital information to the job, such as Customer Notes, who you made the paint for, what it was used on, when it was created, how much the paint cost, exactly what was in it – plus a host of other details.

To start using the new History page and all of its features, just “Complete” a job! Just look for the Job Complete button at the bottom of the page and click it.

This will bring up the Job Card, where you can enter as much or as little information as you’d like. XpressTint remembers all the finer details like what tinters you used, how much the job cost, etc.

Enter tags to quickly “sum-up” a job. Tags can be anything like “Kitchen”, “Glass”, “640 30%”, “Customers Name”… anything that describes the job. This adds categories to History that you can easily sort colours that should be grouped together.

When you need to find the colour again, you can go to your History page, by clicking on the History link located at the top of each page. XpressTint sorts them chronologically, but you can type a search in the search field to refine your query. Below is a list of some recent jobs that I have created. They are neatly arranged as Job Cards so you can see a quick overview of all the most recent jobs you have created. You can Filter these by typing in the Fitler bar. This will instantly refine your results.

Clicking on one of the jobs, will bring up the Job Information page. Here you can view all the specifics of the job that you recently completed. It will even show you the formula and the cost, as well as any information you saved with it. A helpful colour swatch is also displayed if available to help you remember what the colour looked like.

If there are things you would like to add to the History page, such as features or workflow improvements, then we’d love to hear from you. Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Update: A bug in the “Save to” command prevented all default job details saving correctly to the History page, this has now been fixed.

We’ve been working hard on implementing another piece to the XpressTint puzzle – Online Shopping.

With XpressTint Online Shopping you are free to buy your products whenever you want, at better prices than you’d expect!

All of the products are grouped into easy to view families and arranged to help you find what you need quickly. Look for the multiple quantities brackets at the top of the page to save even more. When you buy more in a family then you qualify for bigger savings – that’s any product variation in the family!

In the example above, I have purchased 6 solvents altogether, so I get them at the 6-Buy price!

You can see why we used this exaggerated stock image of an overly-happy shopper.

Sometimes there are formulas that you use all the time. You may offer a range of colours to your clients that you either want named differently, or just conveniently organised in one spot for quick access. Adding formulas to your Favourites list will make these formulas stand out from the thousands of formulas already in XpressTint.

How to Create a Favourite

To Favourite a formula, start by locating the formula in the Search screen, and selecting a Product. Once your formula is on the screen, scroll to the Action Bar at the bottom, and locate the Add to Favourites icon, Add to Favourites in XpressTint. This will save your selected formula to the Favourites page. If you’d like, add some details to individualise this formula.

Add some details to your Favourites - XpressTint

You can change the default Colour Code, Name or Reference to whatever you like, allowing you to search for any of these later.

Locate the Favourites link at the top of the site, in the “Search for a Colour” dropdown. You will see all of your Favourite Formulas in a list on the right hand side of the page.

At the top of the list are two headings that you can sort by. Date Added will sort all of the colours chronologically by when you added them, and Name will sort them alphabetically. If you have a lot of colours, you can refine your results by typing in the Filter bar. Clicking on one of the colours will load the formula.

When you load a formula, you have the option to edit it and save it, just as you would do in any other formula in the Search screen. (View this handy tutorial on editing a formula). You can add base tinters, or change how much colourant to add, change the display units, change the size of the can, etc. You even have the ability to change the colour swatch and details of the colour by clicking the EditSmall Edit button. To change the Colour Swatch, simply hover over the swatch and click Edit. This will let you “pick” whatever colour you think best represents your colour. Click on the Save Formula button at the end of your edits to save the colour.

The Formula has some handy metrics at the bottom of the screen to see how much paint you’ve used, as well as how much it costs.

Share your formula in the usual way with the Actions bar at the very bottom of the Formula card, or Print and Save your Job to History when you are done.

Creating a colour in XpressTint is as simple as following a recipe for a cake.

Paul, our resident “Paint Chef”, cooked up this delicious Pink Linen formula, in 660A Gloss Medium Solids polyurethane on our XpressTint machine. We’ve sped up certain parts of the video for so you don’t fall asleep, but Paul, (we can’t show you his face on television), created it in 6 minutes and 32 seconds.

When creating a recipe, Paul always keeps his formula handy to refer back to, and since he prefers to read the exact amount of each colourant rather than the running total, he is careful to tare the scales after each measurement. This allows him to quickly add colourant, and remove any heavy-handed additions with a spatula.

Using only a few products all the time? Here’s a useful tip when using your iPhone app:

When selecting a product in the app, you will notice some “checkmarks” on the right hand side of the screen. The application allows you to select up to three “preferred” products to use. This unlocks a Quick-Select feature when viewing a colour.

The next time you search for a colour in the app, simply swipe to the right on the colour to Quick-Select your product and instantly get the formula.

You can download the iPhone app from the Apple App Store, here: https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/xpresstint/id814444727?mt=8
